My El camino is a 1970. All #s match but it is not an SS. I want to change out the stock dash to an SS dash. My question is will 71 or 72 ss dash fit right into my 70. Anyone out there know the answer? Signed Bill Brown. [email protected]
Currently doing dash swap on 71. BTW total cost about $1500. Restored dash with vacum metalizing chrome $650, Tach and gauges with wiring $450, Gauge restoration $400. If I knew this when I started I may not have done it. Try and find a complete unit in good condition to save $. And spend the $25-$30 for a factory assembly manual showing all the wiring diagrams. They are available through resto-shops. Coppertop is right on with the technical differences. Expect to pay about $100 extra for the 70-71 dash because of the non seat belt light indicator.
