I am putting new Rocker mouldings on my 67 SS. We have installed new quarters and new Fenders. The shop that did the body work did not take pictures of the placement of the 3 clips that help hold the moulding in place. Can anyone help with this.

This probably won't be much help, but I just put (repop) moldings on my 67 last night. They came with 6 clips (or was it 5?). What I did was hold the molding in the correct position, and using a fine marker, drew a line on the top of the molding and that is where the top of the clips went. I put a clip opposite of each screw hole that is on the underside of the molding. I drilled a small pilot hole first

It may not have been correct, but looks good

The problem I have is there were only 6 clips sent with the 2 rocker mouldings recieved. That only leaves 3 for each side. Did they not send me enough?

My Chevrolet parts book shows 4 are in a package but the same clips cover a number of years and models and I'd take that to be generic in nature. I just took a look at rocker moldings I bougt from Ground Up years ago that got bent in shipping and they supplied 3 per side. The 3 retainers and 6 screws from the bottom worked fine. One could add more but you might run the risk of not getting them straight enough to really work right.

NOS moldings also take 6 clips per side, & 12 screws per side. 6 of the screws hold the clips in place underneath the door, the other 6 screws secure the molding to the underside of the rocker panel.

I guess you could get away with 3 clips per side, but I would either ask(demand) for more clips from the vendor you bought them from or buy some online. They repro those clips, so availability isn't an issue.

The way I mounted mine was similar to Bill's (Flameout) method. First I taped a line of 2" masking tape along the top edge of the rocker where the top of the molding will sit. Then I used more masking tape to hold the molding in it's correct position.

Use a marker to trace a line on to the masking tape from front to rear of the top of the molding. Next take one of the supplied clips and place it just below your traced line, & stencil a circle inside the hole of the clip. That's your drill spot.

I aligned each of the 6 clips directly above the lower slots where the bottom screws mount.

It's a fairly easy job.

Good luck.

Thanks, guys. I called Aulshey's Chevelle, ( that's where the new moulding came from), and they told me that there were suppose to be 12 clips and 24 screws with each set 2 bags with 6 clips per bag. They sent me another set. It came today.
Thanks again.
