What spring rate would you guys recomend on a lowered big block camino '70?
It has 2 inch dropped spindles now and I want it to be as low as possible, so the springs need to be really stiff.
What rates are we talking about?
Thanks

I am using 800# springs with about a 2 inch drop on my 71 Elky.

BBC Weiand 177 blower/merlin iron heads (read front is heavy) and I am really pleased with the 800# spring rate.

Anything over 600# will require shocks that are either adjustable, or valved for race cars... nobody makes a "street" shock for springs that heavy. I run AFCO "street-stock" dirt-track racing shocks on mine with 925# springs, but the linear valving is pretty harsh for the street.

Adjustable shocks would be your best option, and work with any rate you choose, but they are expensive.

Agree with Derek.

I am running Afcos; pretty sure 1021s. Very happy with results. Not too harsh.

Ok thanks!
When you say 800#, that means 800 lbs/inch, right?
Where can I buy these rates?

I work at Ohlins Racing so we got a pretty good stock of springs, but we don't use the dimensions that I need on our springs.
I'll be putting together my own shocks so the damping force will not be a problem.

Thanks for your help
