I don't think they will fit into the lower control arm. A standard shock with no spring just fits
You may have to open the hole a little if I remember right. Last time I did it was in 1977.

I had them on my 70 years ago. Both my son's have them ln there G body's 78 & 79 ElCaminos right now. They might get a little scratched up on the way in. But it will go in. You may have to take out the slotted nuts on lower control where you tighten up bottom of shocks. If you can find them Gabriel makes a decent pair and there gas shocks with springs.

I think a set of new springs will be cheaper than those shocks and if you're still young it's good experience replacing the fronts but that's just my opinion.
