Save yourself any more grief. Loosen the entire dash; There are 6 maybe 8 bolts that need to be loosened. You don't need to loosen any wiring, cables, etc., Loose so you can pull the dash forward a bit. I have looooooong skinny arms - perfect for reaching into tight places. Spent 2 or 3 days trying to get the cable from above and below. Finally bit the bullet and loosened the dash. Piece of cake then. BTW~ - you will also need to remove the 4 bolts holding the steering column to the dash. Again no need to remove column wiring - pull the bolts and let the steering wheel rest on your seat. It is REALLY NOT that difficult.
