My 67 Malibu has a 2nd red needle in the speedometer, set at 60 mph. I remember some cars from this era had max speed alarms that sounded when you hit a certain speed. However, I can't find an adjustment knob anywhere. My question is, is this what I think it is? And, was the needle possibly standard but the alarm and adjuster an option? Just wondering.

Thats weird! I was just reading this months Super Chevy Mag and on page 103 Chevelle Talk it describes a new option in 67 for a speed warning
system. It says the dial was white and there was a knob in the dash to set the speed. When your orange speedo dial got to that preset a buzzer would sound.

If your speedo has the second “needle” it is the speed-warning unit, RPO U16. It should have an adjusting knob on the lower lip(?) of the dash on the left side of the column, if I remember correctly. A cable is connected to the knob and the speedo. There will also be a relay/buzzer on the back. Dale McIntosh posted a pic of one but I can’t find it. You can visit Team67 for lots of good info on 67 Chevelles.
