What direction do you pull speedo cable from sheath to lube , from speedo head or trans. end? Also can this be done in car with out removing speedometer from dash 1972 Chevelle? Makes noise when cold out.
Thanks for your time!

Not sure if a '72 is the same but I pulled the inner cable out of the sheath from the tranny side on my '67 with T400.
Much easier to get to than trying to get under the dash and take loose from the speedo.
I lubed the cable up from one end to the other as I pushed it back in the sheath.
I had the same noise problem with a new cable and lubing it up solved the problem.
Hope that helps

There is an adapter just for that , it fits on the tranny end and has a grease fitting on the end. I have had one for a long time and don`t remember where I got it from, works great.

Pretty much the same difference for 72.
If you disconnect at the speedo and get the cable assembly to where you can work with it, it's just about out of the car anyhow. In that case might as well take it out flush it, dry it, then lube it.
