When using an ohm meter to check spark plug wire resistance, what is an acceptable level of resistance to see? Its a small block Chevrolet with the red MSD wires.
Thanks
If you go to MSD/Holley and find MSD spark plug wires,then find your part #,click on specs,and find the Resistance column,it will give you the Ohms per foot number;
My Taylor low resistance wires run from 2K for the long #2, to around 800 ohms for the shorty. The higher resistance Taylors and others can read as high as 10k ohms.
About to do this myself, and find that missing -10mph. ( not likley a wire as it cruises so well)
PS I really miss my Taylor solid cores! ZERO OHMS! And oddly, GREAT AM radio reception. ( which I could never figure out - other than the MSD coming out of the mix)
Those Taylor Mag Core Wires were fantastic !! They had wire wrapped around a center core. That cancelled out the static causing frequency's while still using real wire conductors.
Me too! working out of the home/covid office and that's my lunch break.
EDIT: all between 500 and 900 ohms, approximately, mostly due to length. Here's the funny part, I like to check thru the cap as well. I had a few faults thru cap, meaning the wire's brass end wasn't making contact with the cap and then afer PROPERLY burying the contacts , still had a 4500K reading and saw this....
