Apologies for posting on this section, but I know it gets most views. I am heading to Long Beach on Aug 4 to pickup a suburban and drive back to Gainesville Texas. If anyone has parts they need moved, I’ll help if I can. Not sure exact route yet; probably I-15 to I-40 to Amarillo, then Wichita Falls, or possibly southern route through Lubbock… there’s also slight/slim chance of stopping in Rye, CO
This just popped up today, or I would have posted sooner.

FYI

Did the I40 run from Flagstaff through Amarillo (on to OKC) and back in June. Lot’s of truck traffic and road construction. Poor road conditions in AZ & NM. Much better in TX (and OK). Be patient 😉...

BTW, use a radar detector.
Radar detectors are like using drum brakes these days....much better options available. I don't usually advocate for modern technology, but Google maps or "Waze" on your smartphone both give you real time listings where the highway patrol are hanging out along your route.

I just completed a 3800 mile road trip though 16 states without being pulled over....not for lack of trying, I probably averaged 80+MPH on the freeways. My GF/navigator was able to keep me informed & the cops were usually in the exact spots listed on the apps. Give it a try, it really works.

Does google maps list that when you have traffic on?
The Navigator just informed the speed trap info pops up when you click the "directions" button in the app.

Got home yesterday at 4pm. MFortie was right about I-40 roads...almost embarrassing in many areas; makes me wonder where all that "infrastructure" money is going?? Anyway, non-eventful drive, suburban ran great and is extremely clean for 22 year old, 195K miles. You can tell it's a 454 by watching the gas gage move!! Gas was 4.69 in California and came down rapidly in AZ, NM, and then 2.70 in Texas.

I gotta get those CA tags off before I get shot at in TX.!!

Mr Moderator; you can move thread this or delete now..... thanks

Aso,,,since i don't know how to EDIT..

PETE 67; Good tip on "WAZE" app. Had warnings for cars on side of road AND POLICE...very handy, although everyone was doing 80-85.
I love WAZE!
