I have no compressor for the A/C on my '71 Sprint. Now that I have the dash put back together and all seems to be working, I find that the fan blows lots more air flow if I set the A/C/Heater controls to "MAX" rather than "VENT." This, of course, makes sense, otherwise why have it? The question is, since there's no compressor, am I doing any damage to anything in the A/C innards? I have the A/C compressor wire taped back out of the way for when I come across the right (can you cay cheap?) replacement compressor. It's a POA system (I DID NOT say POS!
), and it is supposed to sense low freon (like, none!).

Am I doing a bad thing?

all "max" does on a/c in a car is recycle air in the cab thus keeps cooling the air over and over making it cooler inside, inside of cooling the hot outside air.
