I know its not a chevelle, but thought the folks here might appreciate....
Little background- I sold my 68 Elcamino SS396 back in 2008 for family reasons. I bought a 66 Olds Cutlass with a small piece of the proceeds so i could still have a car to play with.
My first goal was to get a decent engine in it, comparible to the elcamino's 454 HO.
In December 2009 I scored a deal from a friend on a low mile Chevy 454- we pulled it, and i started gathering parts with plans to put it in my 66 Olds 442 clone- but Life got in the way again and I was forced to sell the engine the next summer before it found its way into the car.... A year later in 2010, I bought this olds 455 as an abandoned project from machine shop for $150. All I got was a bare virgin block, and a used rotating assembly.
The last couple years have been spent gathering parts and slowly making progress...
I took the car off the road 4 months ago to pull the original 330 to detail the engine bay and do the swap... Yesterday I fired it up for the first time and broke in the cam- and this evening took her for a spin around the block.
It's been a long road with many Oldsmobile related complications along the way and a snails pace of progress with 2 little kids at home and non-existent budget. So felt great to have it under power finally!
Motor is an olds 455 (now 471)

A huge thanks to all local and global TC members who've helped me, donated parts, time, expertise and motivation to make this possible. :beers:
