It really is amazing how I can do an entire motor swap, getting only one nic in the hood the size of a peice of corn (very small), and I come home yesterday, and a radio, which has been on a shelf for about 1.5 years, has fallen on the hood, took out a huge chunk (about 3 inches around) of paint, and put a large dent in the hood  .

Cars been out of the body shop less then a year. Guess its going back again...

Murphy's Law.

My Dad had one of his '57's hit back in the 70's, a really nice yellow 210 post.

Took it in, got it fixed. On the way home from the body shop he got rear ended. Back to the body shop!

RE: Saturday Night Live - "Ooooh! Yeah, I just HATE when that happens!" :clonk:
I feel for ya. We should all learn a lesson from this and remove any and all music-producing mechanisms from within fifty feet of our vehicles!!! If your wife or girlfriend sings...I'd hate to be the one breaking the news. Just think what would happen if SHE fell off the shelf!

LMAO. Might crack the block......

Lord I apologize....

Thanks for the laugh. It makes me feel a little better. But look at the bright side. Now I get to run around without a hood and feel like a
bad-ass until it gets back from the body shop :D

Yeah, put some Zeppelin on your 8-track with the speakers set on the rear shelf, and it's the 70s all over again!
I remember in the early 80s it was still occasionally cool to run hoodless. I drove the Chevelle around that way for a little while when we first got the engine in it - mainly 'cause I didn't trust our abilities and figured we'd be pulling it (for the third time - DOH!).

Hell, I still do that. Much faster to pull the engine out because I screwed something up, if the hood is already off:thumbsup: :D

If you would not have got all ticked about the nic... slamming the door on the way out of the shop the radio might not have fallen of the shelf. That sounds like some that would happen to me.
I share your luck...I once had a lid blow off of a gallon of half full auto paint due to summer heat in the garage. Hit the ceiling leaving paint splatters ending its journey upside down on the trunklid, of course leaving paint splatters there also. At least it landed upside down. From then on I always tape my lids on. Dano

A dent in the hood? Bah! When we brought home our brand new Volvo, we parked it in the driveway and left it there over night. The next morning we found that one of our dogs had decided that the new, unknown car was an intruder and a threat to the family, and had chewed up the front and the rear bumpers, plus several of the plastic trim pieces. Had to replace both bumpers and the trim. I wanted to draw and quarter the dog and burn it's remains, but my wife wouldn't let me...

That's the worst part. I pulled the hood and put it on the roof of the car and did the motor pull. The car was backed into the garage (one car) for about 4 weeks. The first night I pulled it in nose first, the radio fell. But the kicker. The radio was up there since last December, untouched. It didn't fall then, but when I went into the garage to get a pair of wire cutters for a honey-do, I noticed out of teh corner of my eye something laying on the hood.

I would have rathered I made it fall, at least I would have someone to blame. But I tell ya, I ordered a shed and there will be nothing within 2 feet of teh car now. So, I guess I learned a lesson.

yeah, murphy's law sucks. i had a car that got stolen 3 days after a full paint in italy. they took it "rally racing" at a quarry in the mountains above the house. looks like they jumped out of it with the doors open and ran it into the construction shack. can't figure out any other way that the doors would be folded all the way fwd and the car run into the shack. that upset me a little.

My dad had a fluorescent tube fall out of the socket and on the cowl induction of his '68 Camaro SS. It nicked the paint up too. This is an older restoration.
Hmmm! I thought I was just paranoid one time when I was thinking those damn bulbs could fall out of their sockets. Guess anything could happen with a couple kids running in and out all the time.
Maybe I should get the tape out... HeHe
