I just hooked up a MSD ignition to my 1965 elco, do I still need the wire that goes from the positive side of the coil to the resistor side of the solenoid. Thanks.
That wire ensures you have +12volts during the time the starter is engaged. The resistor wire from the fuse panel ensures you have voltage after the starter is released. You can always tell a car that didn't use the solenoid wire. The car spins but doesn't start until the starter is released.
