I have a small leak of at fluid that looks like it is coming from the rt front corner of the transmission pan. All bolts (13) were able to be tightened up 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.
I got got a repleacement gasket ( rubber) and have the two following questions.
Should I use any type of sealeant on both side of the gasket ( trans housing and pan)? In the old days all I used was permetex, now I am not sure.
About how many qts of trans fluid will leak out when I replace the gasket? Just to not want to over spend and buy to many qts.

I would use a brush on "Hi-Tack" on the pan, to hold the gasket in place, it will make the install easier. You dont need a lot just a thin coat on the pan, place your gasket and line up the bolt holes and press it down. Then flip the pan over on a work bench or the floor and let it sit awhile.

Nothing on the trans side, this will make removing the pan easier for filter change in the future.

Knock the pan flat where the bolt's have pulled the pan in and use NO sealer on the gasket. Some pan gasket's have a set of smaller holes to thread the bolts into the gask. to hold it in place, or use some thread to tie the gasket to the pan through the pan bolt holes. then start the pan bolt's and cut the thread. Don't over look the dipstick tube oring, The 2nd clutch acc. cover and if there is a switch on that side for your ign. system that can b leaking. C-ya Scott
