looking for id of this small block. i checked archives and www.mortec.com already with no luck. i only have info off front pad. motor is in a 59 chevy truck and i cannot read back of block. t0206cmj?

Don't know how much help this will be but this is what I could find. CMJ code suffix was used in 1974 on a 350 as a police package with a 4bbl carb and in a full size vehicle. It was also used in 1980 on a 305 in full size vehs and in camaros.. Hope this helps.. Post any other #'s you can find on the pad and any on the rear of the block to shed a little more light on this...

Would the dipstick be on the pass. side for the 80 year 305? Also might check date code on rear of engine near the bellhousing. Look for a letter followed by 3 numbers. Looks like a tag cast in the block. tom
