.......trying a Holley, figured I'd ask a couple of questions before I get started. I've been reading up on the one Ben gave me, its a list # 6210-3, model 4165 DP with mechanical secondaries and 650 CFM. I'm going to try the rebuild myself and will get a kit from Holley. The first time I've even held a holley was when I took it out of the back of the truck. How hard are they to rebuild? Any tips or pitfalls I should watch out for? I'm going to get a book today and start reading up on them. Wish me luck.

I thought it was bigger than a 650 but it should still work well for you and if you want something bigger, but a new main body from proform for it. Mike was using an Avenger 670 for a long time on his '67 and it worked well!

The rebuild should be fairly easy, the most important thing I could offer is don't over tighten the acc. pump screws or the float bowl screws. Use a small amount of thread lock on the throttle plate to main body screws. You might want to put jet extensions in the rear metering plate too. As for power valves, just split your engine vacuum in half and start with that #. If your engine pulls 14" of vacuum, start with a 6.5 or so PV. The book should be helpfull and Holleys IMO are easy to work with.

Yep that's the one. I just bought a book on them. At least its a spreadbore so I don't feel that bad:D

I'm running 215 heads with stock valves. The intake is gasket matched to the heads.

And I got plenty of bad habbits..................

OVAL:D closed 101cc chamber.. The same as the 702s with stock valves I had on the 396 that went 12.9 Well the 702s may have slightly smaller CC
the 215s are supposedly the better of the closed chambers since they are only a semi-closed chamber. The 702s are mostly CCd at 96.5.

Some reason mine are 94 now:D

yah I've got 215 heads with a "750" dp it loves it. I've got a 750 main body, plates and baseplate sitting on the shelf, all you would need would be bowls, accel. pump arms and bowl screws. I think it would be a better carb for your application
