Shipping a hood

668 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  CT Mark
Anybody done this with success? I need to have a hood shipped from CA (Sacramento area) to CT. I'm trying to figure out if it's worthwhile to even attempt. I know it's too big for UPS, FedEx, etc. I've heard of using Greyhound, but based on their shipping guidlines, I think it's too big for them as well.

Thanks.

Motor freight is the only way I know of unless Fedex freight will do it.
Or there is this way.....
A couple of years ago I was in my wifes cousins bodyshop when a customer comes in and tells the owner to come out and look at the hood he ordered for his 69 Camaro the shop was restoring.
He bought it off of ebay for 150 dollars and 30 dollars shipping. Well after winning the bid the seller emails him and asks for more money as the shipping was going to be a lot higher than he quoted.
Being a no nonsense type of guy the buyer said a deal is a deal and he would not pay more. The guy offered to refund his money and he said no a deal is a deal.
6 days later his wife calls and said fedex left some packages for him. Well when he got home there were two large flat packages. The guy had cut the hood right down the middle and shipped it in two packages! It had been a near perfect rust free hood.
Never did hear if he got that issue got settled thru paypal!:D
