I am looking for a new gas tank for my 71 Chevelle. It seems that the best deal out there is a Kit from Ground up for a shiny Import fuel tank along with the install kit with straps insulators bolts etc for $129.95 plus shipping. Has anyone used this kit? If so, what is your opinion of this unit as far as fit and appearance? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the canadian one for my 67. The import used different gas cap so you have to buy that also
That may be true of the Spectra Premium tank from Quanta as well. I experienced gas cap problems after installing one on my El Camino. With that said, it's still probably the best quality of all the tanks available. Quanta is a major supplier of OEM gas tanks and I wouldn't be surprised if the non Canadian tanks are made from a lighter gauge metal.

I had leaks from the original gas cap on my repro spectra tank. I put a new rubber seal on the original cap and fixed the leak. Every time I accelerated, gas would slosh right out of the back of the tank.
