OK, I have a '68 SS with a four speed, Hurst shifter. The shifter is getting a lot of rattle (vibration) when driveing. It used to rattle only in 3rd & 4th but is now doing it in all gears.

Is there rubber or nylon bushings or grommets that need to be replaced over time in the linkage or what?

Thanks,
Saul

With the Hurst Comp Plus, it comes with nylon bushings that fit over the ends of the shift rods. After time they wear, and can begin to rattle.

You can go to (usually) any parts store and in the performance section they will carry the steel bushing kit, which should tighten your shifter right up. If you can't find it at the parts store, you can get it direct from Hurst or you can get it from Jegs.

Keep in mind, this will only fix your problem if you are for sure that it is the shfiter, and not the trans internals.

Good luck!
