Some of you may have read my other post in other sections. I'm now close to getting the 66' running fine.

Question: How can I adjust or change my shift points on my stock 200-4R? Valve body? Torque Converter?

It's a stock rebuilt trans (don't think it's from a GNX). I built my motor as a mild street but mostly stock engine (i.e. stock valve train on Vortec heads, mild cam with hydraulic lifters).

When I stomp on the pedal I can go all the way past 6000 rpm. WHOA! that scares the crap out of me. I don't need to be revving that high before it shifts. So now I have to feather the gas so the shift points come in earlier.

I should note that i'm a relative n00b when it comes to Automatics. I don't even know what "stall speed" means although I have tried to research it unsuccessfully.

Mike, great recommendation and link. I didn't think to adjust the TV cable but will do that first. Thanks

The governor? It does shift well and also firm during moderate acceleration.

Where does it shift @ light throttle? Who built the trans?

I haven't done the TV adjustment yet. Will do so this wknd... but in terms of light throttle it behaves as I would expect a decent automatic to behave - shifts "normally" imho. I don't have mph-to-shift-to-throttle position data but I suppose I can estimate.

Trans was rebuilt by a local shop who rebuilt trans for my previous cars. They aren't the best but i think they're good for stock rebuilds.

I wish I knew the rear end gearing. I do know that with the small 255/55/16 tires my gearing feels very low. I'm guessing that too plays a factor.

The TV adj. won't affect the WOT shifts as when you are @ WOT the cable should be all the out & tight. Could be a mis matched VB & gov, if he installed a GN gov with a generic style VB you'll have that problem.
