Hello, all. I need the screws for mounting the screen in the back of my cowl hood. I'd like to get as close to original as possible; my GM dealer says he cannot get them.

In a post thread from 2000, a member mentions sending a picture to another member of the screw but it was not posted in the post thread. That thread now seems to be closed so I cannot request a copy of the pic.

Does anyone have a picture of the screw?

I have attached the page from the assembly manual showing the screw I am looking for. It is item # 3 of the attached.

I know you said original. I recently had my hood repainted and threw the originals away as they were rusted and stripped out. I replaced them with stainless.

I'd call OPG and NPD up or look in their paper catalogs. That screw is bound to be in their inventory somewhere though possibly in a higher assembly cowl induction parts kit.

In other words, you might need to buy something you don't need to get this one tiny part.

And the Factory Assembly Manual usually lists parts specifications. Use that information to then go to a specialty bolt store and buy a few for short money.

Thanks for your efforts. I am probably overthinking this. I was hoping to find a photo of the screw so I could look for something close.

A lot of body shop supply houses carry trim fasteners and hardware. If you have one close by, you may find what you are looking for . Since my car isn't original enough to matter, and I work on quite a few different vehicles, I buy 50 count bags of various black and chrome trim screws from the fastener supplier I use at work and throw them in a drawer. With about eight part numbers, I can cover 90% of the trim screws on a Chevelle or other GM vehicle, and only a REAL expert would ever know the difference.
