Sending Unit ?

I am converting from idiot lights to SS gauges in my 65. Is there a difference in the sending units for oil and temp. If so, where can I find new ones? Also, I have a wiring schematic for the wires. It looks as if I can modify the harness under the dash to work with the gauges. Can anyone comment on this?

There is a difference between the oil and temp units. Idiot light cars use a sender that is a switch. On the temp sender, for example, the switch type sender remains open until a certain temperature is reached. After that it closes making the light come on. On a gage temp sender, the sender keeps changing resistance as the temperature goes up. That's what makes the gage rise.
Don't know of a source offhand. Might try Year One.
