How do you go about cleaning the belts and restoring the SS case covers?

Have it done. Are you going to trust your life and your passengers' lives to 40 year old nylon webbing? The above listed company will replace the webbing with brand new webbing and refinish your SS for a reasonable amount of $.

I just cleaned 2 very dirty belts, actually 4 that will go in my back seat. They have been sitting for years and have decided to use them. Anyway, I used simple green. Sprayed them down on both sides and the dirt just started running off. They were soaked, i didn't have a brush or I would have used it. Just went about it by hand, than rinsed them off in water not getting the buckles wet. Where really dirty. I let them dry and they are very clean. One is slightly faded but the non faded one looked like new. Faded ones can be sprayed with a paint from SEM that can be used on fabric and will NOT rub off on clothes...
The plastic cover on buckle I rubbed out and polished. Not sure if yours are plastic or deluxe belts.
Or you can spend hundreds by the Pro's.

I should dye my belts black again, last time didn't come out too great. Any suggestions on a certain black dye to use?

I can't offer any specific recommendations but I can say you need to be careful. Certain dyes or dying processes can weaken the belt webbing material. You would probably be better off replacing the webbing with new.

On redoing the plastic....you just sand with various grit of sandpaper.?? Can you buy the replacement blue gm stickers too....71 belts...

Something that needs to be considered. However, earlier this year I decided to refinish the black seat belts in my '68 El Camino myself. I took the plastic buckles off and refinished them. I soaked the webbing in warm water with Simple Green. They were dirty! After they dried, I "painted" them with Spray Max 1K black satin trim paint: http://www.66autocolor.com/Spray_Max_Trim_Paint_36801_p/spm-36801.htm . When I went to my local auto paint supply store, I picked up a spray can of the equivalent product by SEM. The clerk said I should try the Spray Max product instead, so I did. Worked great!
