I just recently modified my 1 1/4" drop base to allow a 4" filter to sit into my cowl induction hood. I had to offset the carb opening to the rear 1" and that allowed the clearance I need at the back edge of the filter. My question is: If I make a pan that will seal to the bottom of the hood, can I rely on just the cowl air to supply my engine. I know that it would be cooler, but I was concerned about airflow at high RPM. It's a 14" K&N with an extreme lid. I also have removed the solenoid and inner flap from the hood.
