I have a 69 chevelle with a sbc with SS conversion gauges. Usually it runs at the half mark on the temperature gauge. Lately if I moderatly get on it... 3500 rpm or so... It will warm up to about another 1/8th past half on the temp gauge... Then go back down.

My e fan runs all the time (waiting on a new thermostat sensor for the fan)

Any ideas?

Thanks
Rich

it isn't "warm" unless it starts pegging the gauge, running like crap, and boiling over.
anything under 210 is good and if i have a good radiator cap i don't start worrying until i see 220-230..

Rich,
The first thing you really need to do is to install a good mechanical temperature gauge, even if it is just temporary, so that you can see exactly what temperature it is running at. The factory style gauges really are not all that accurate.

Also, if your fans are running all the time, then you need to fix that also. Because the fan is never shutting off the engine might actually be running too cool most of the time and just getting to normal temperature when you run it hard.

You need to fix the fan and install a good gauge before going any further. You might not even have a problem at all but there is no way of knowing under the present conditions.
