My alternator gauge I bought from eBay is bad. It moves around inside the case so I'm assuming it's grounded...and no, I haven't bench tested, yet at least. The guy I bought it from says if it is grounded it will burn out with power applied to it though. Anyway, I can return it and he'll send me a new one. The problem I think I'll run into is without the gauge, the circuit will be broken. My question is, if I put the old generator dummy light in, even though it won't function, would that allow the circuit to complete so my other gauges would work until I swap the new gauge in? I guess I just need something to keep the connection, if you all see where I'm getting at. Any ideas? To clarify these are the SS gauges. I converted from dummy lights to the actual gauges. Thanks.

If you are using a gauge dash harness, running without the factory amp gauge will not be a problem. No need to complete the circuit.
