Collecting info for my 468 build. So far I'm looking at AFR 265cc heads, Edelbrock performer RPM air gap manifold, Holley 850 DP model 4150 carb, MSD HEI distributor (vacuum pickup), bored .60. I'm looking for a trusty rotating assembly with domed forged pistons (24cc dome) and a 4 inch stroke (should I stay away from eagle?). Im also looking for a reliable HR cam kit with rods and lifters ([email protected]) Mainly I'm looking for products that others can back up with good results. Thanks

I've had recent experience with both Wolfplace (Mike Lewis) and Cstraub (Straub technologies) and they have been great to work with. Although I purchased my rotating assembly locally, I bought everything else from these guys.

Check out Super Chevy's oval port head test. The cam wasn't the best pick but it will give you some ideas of what is possible.

Why are you limited to a 4" stroke?

I don't know what your application is, but there are advantages to going to a longer stroke. Say 4.250.

I spoke with Mark Jones @ Vortecpro about my build. I told him what I was looking for and he recommended the heads, manifold, Forged dome pistons, and a 4" stroke. I chose the carb and distributor. As for the rest I'm open to suggestions. Ive read what others have to say about his 468 and 496 builds on here and have heard nothing but great results.
