Hi, im sure your going to be seeing alot of me here..im new and also a rookie to restoration. I have just purchaced a 66 SS 396 4spd car from a scrap yard..it has a body..thats it. Most is gone except body panels...I NEED EVERYTHING.
Im looking for a few places or people who sell parts to this car..original or NOS.
Also any advice on starting or what ever input would be great...thanks to you all

Lou, First things first...
Restoring an old car is a great hobby and you are going to meet allot of nice people along the way...But if your wife isn't with you on this deal...then look out!! It can be tough rowing

Seriously you need to decide what YOU want the car to be, daily driver? weekend cruiser? or all out show car?
If you missing a ton of stuff and looking for a daily driver or a weekend cruiser than I wouldn't be looking for NOS or"Original" stuff. You can get allot of great stuff at swap meets and if your lucky out of junkyards that won't cost you an arm and a leg! Refer back to the wife deal

May peace be with you and the missus

Good Luck! Welcome to the Board!

First thing I would do is order every restoration catalog I could find, then make a list of parts you will need. Then plan your restoration around your abilities, bank account and available time. Figure out what you want to use the car for; show, race, cruiser or driver. Look over the car carefully, over all condition will help determine what sort of finished product is economically feasable. Good luck.

Lou:

You might want to hit Summer Carlisle for many of your needs, both NOS and USED parts, if it can be had, Carlisle is the place!

You also have Super Chevy at MapleGrove Raceway in Reading, PA next weekend...really good swap meet there. Mostly though, you will get a chance to meet and greet with many Chevelle owners and many Chevelle Vendors, especially at Carlisle!! Plenty of free catalogs there. As you will soon find out, reproduction parts don't always cut the mustard in the FIT department...so if NOS or used original can be found, go for it, even if the price is higher, and it will be.

Have to also agree with the above here, decide what you are building? A full blown factory original Show car may keep that new 66 from seeing the road for a few yrs., but a decent DRIVER, you can get up and running alot quicker and cheaper.

Of course don't forget the TEAM CHEVELLE FOR SALE page and E-bay

Good luck...Red on Red 66 SS,,,nice!

Thanks alot everyone..The car is going to basically start as a weekend cruiser..I dont think I can hold out the time it will take to complete an original show machine., and I want to drive it.
As far as the wife goes...shes ok with it all. It was actualy my anniversary present for our first year. I just didnt find anything until now. She was expecting me to buy something that was already on the road etc..ya know mostly done..not a shell from a scrap yard. Shes very supportive thank god, and knows how much it means to me..Super Chevy show at maple grove..im calling for a weekend room now...thanks again and take care all
