I just removed the stainless steel roof rail pieces from 67 Malibu and I am about to re-intsll them, however, the book (Fisher Body Manual) says to use a "pumpable" caulk to attach roof rails to roof. They are also attached by some 12 screws. My problem is, is what is a "pumpable" caulk? What came off was something like a foam tape with what appears to be some soft grey compound. It came off easy enough, and if I were to replace weatherstripping sometime in the future, I would certainly like it to come off easy again. Any ideas out there?

On my 72,I used truck camper shell self adhesive mounting tape. It worked great. Get it at any autoparts store. I put the sticky side on the roofrail trim, and trimmed it to the correct width.
