this is what I have,,1978 454 .060 over 9.5-1 forged probe pistons, scat pro street rods,stock .010 under crank,the heads are 336781 stock size s.s valves with a five angle or radius valve job,headers,air gap intake,need to get a carb looking at a Edelbrock avs 800 cfm. this motor is going into a 1994 gmc ext cab k1500 with a turbo 400, 3:73 gears with 36" tires, right!!! not the best gears with the big tires,,,O.K need help picking a cam, looking at comp roller cam just what one??? hows #11-423-8 ????

That's a move in the right direction, but the gears are still an important change as well. Your 3.73's with the 36's would be equivalent to 2.59's in a production car, or as I like to say, it's like you're starting in second gear, shifting to drive, then shifting to overdrive.

Then there's the matter of the huge mass/flywheel effect of the large tires......Oh, and I checked out the ratio comparison, you'd need 4.88's to duplicate the stock 28" truck tires with 3.73's.

Talk to chris on here he will hook you up with the right cam from your engine.

Ive been talking to him about a roller cam for my 383 and WOW! All Im going to say is WOW.

Talk to him and you wont be disapointed trust me. give him engine specs and what you want from the engine and he will cook up a cam.

Ill be goin to him when my gf is ready for roller in a few yrs.

remember. . . WOW lol

all the CC roller part numbers that end in -8 are the cast iron rollers. Pretty hard to find anybody who recommends that. For a few bucks more you can get a custom grind on a steel billet core with a cast distributor gear. Worthwhile.
