Have read the threads regarding 71 SS's not having rocker panels. I realize it's not a factory look, but I personally like the look of the chrome rocker panels and would like to have these on my Chevelle. Can anyone provide a reference to a vendor who can provide such a trim piece.

My car has been reworked by the previous owner and he has done an exceptional job. I keep finding things he's done that I didn't know about. Like this afternoon, I removed the front bucket seats and learned he has already installed sound deadening material in the floorboard.

If I can learn of a vendor that sells the chrome rocker panels, I'm going to install them on my chevelle.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I'm struggling to find info on this as well! I have holes in my rocker panels for the molding but just can't find any solid info on the install as well as who has the right pieces. I feel like different vendors have different style moldings so I'm just finding it a bit more complicated than I thought. I too am a fan of these moldings but can't find any info yet

I keep looking.. Haven't found anything yet... I think there are many who are purists and the rockers aren't oem. I'm inclined to make the car mine and add what I think makes the car look good... If I find something I'll be sure to get the info to you. Take care!!

I'm right there with you. I'm still looking and pretty excited to figure it out. Hell my dash is out of a Monte carlo, seats are Pontiac and I couldn't love it more. I actually plan on using 68/69 arm rests (I have a 72) because I like the chrome trim more than a big plain piece of plastic. Looks like something is missing to me lol

I bought a set for my 71 Malibu from Ground-Up. You can look on Ebay for NOS ones but most go for around $600 a set. I think there are 6 clips per side and they also have screws for the tabs that come off the panels and wrap under the rocker panel. They've been on my car for about 6 years now and seem to be holding up well.

That looks bad ass! Thanks for replying, so I know there are the clips on the side but did you have to make the screw holes on the bottom? I have the holes for the clips, but nothing on the bottom side of the rocker. Thinking maybe they just got filled over time

My car had the moldings on it from the factory so the holes were there. I replaced my original ones because they had dents, and scratches in them. The moldings have a lip on the top backside that catch on the clips that you mount to the side and then screw on under the rocker panel. Here's a picture when I had the old moldings off the car.

Thanks, I know when I was thinking about replacing mine I couldn't see going for NOS pieces seeing my car is not a trailer queen but a street driven car. A lot of people said the repro ones were thin and junk. They are made out of aluminum and coated just like the originals. When I finally pulled the trigger on the repros I even checked the thickness and they were about a .001 thinner and the quality seemed to be good. I don't have any regrets in going with the repros. One more thing the clips are metal not plastic as I saw on another vendors website.

Hey, Hkalin, i chefked on Ground Up and these panels are priced at just over $110. You mentioned $600 in the earlier post. Just to clarify, the panels you have on your car are these from Ground Up? I like the way they look on your car!! Thanks for the info.

Yes, I did buy them from Ground-Up. When I bought them they were under $100 but that had to be at least 6 yrs. ago. I live in the next town over from them so I just went down there to pick them up. The $600 dollar ones were NOS on eBay.
