I have a old tractor that I want to put a new style GM alternator on( internal regulator) How do I wire this to work?
I took readings from 78 EC, the 2 heavy red wires have 12 volts and the other thinner wire has 3 volts with key on. Can I just put a resistor in line for the thinner wire from the ignition and the other red wires to the battery? Thanks

Take a look at the Tech Reference alternator articles here and that will give you the correct wiring set-up. No resistor should be needed.
