I just thought I would throw up some photos of my project :D

Some people might remember seeing a post almost a year ago about my car breaking the snout off the crank from running a D1SC procharger setup. Soon after that I started a build up of a twin turbo setup.

The blow through carb never worked right with the turbo setup and I was never able to make a full pass all summer long. About two months ago I got off my butt and sent my carb down to CSU to have everything setup right. I'm pretty damn excited.

Since I am now going to run one of their hats I had to redo the cold side. I just finished that tonight. Even though the motor is real close to making some noise, last weekend I got crazy and sold the 12 bolt out of my car. I needed to make a gear change and really needed axles, so I decided to build a Moser 9". That company is really awesome. To call up and place an order and get a 2 day turn around is amazing. I also decided to go with a Detroit Truetrac, so I hope that holds up okay.

If all goes well, I will have some dyno numbers soon, it should be interesting.

As for the car, I drive the hell out of it. I don't own a trailer and race it almost every weekend. So far the best pass was with the Procharger which was 10.72 @ 125.6 with a 1.489 60 on MT 275 drag radials. I drove the car 35 miles to the track to make that pass

your biggest improvement would come from the csu car & hat-i have run them for a while-i have been lucky and never broke a snout, even w/671's, but it was always in the back of my mind-the turbo's will be a little diff. than the prochargers, diff power band-there starting to offer cams ground a little diff. to help them spool up-i havent even finished my current project(489 b/b w/f1r) and have been thinking of a twin turbo for another deal, just been to lazy to deal with the exhaust, might go with the cast iron kit, now there making them with a high nickel mix to help cracking
sweet looking ride, cant wait to see the results

Sweet set up. Did you break a stock crank or A/M forged crank before. I am at the tail end of my first FI project using a Vortech YSi and one of my biggest worries is the crank.

I found Kevin @ CSU was great to deal with. If his carbs work 1/2 as good as his customer service you will be very happy.

That should make some good power. What exhaust ar/trim are you running? Are you running cast iron exhust madifolds?

Nice looking car!

It was a Callies 4340 Dragon Slayer that I broke. I thought it was a purely unique deal until I found another person with the same setup running a D1SC and he also sheared the snout off. It was just one of those deals and I wasn't about to give it a second chance. I loved the 60ft with the Procharger.

Thanks Ron.

Right now I'm running the .68's that came with the turbo. Full boost comes in by 3800 so it pulls hard really early. Since I didn't have the tune down in all my passes last year, I'm not sure how much that small ar will hurt me on the big end. The flip side is, right now I only want to run 10.teens as I don't have a cage in the car. On its best pass last year it went 11.0 at 1/3 throttle on 10lbs so I shouldn't have problem with the CSU carb to get me there

As for the exhaust, I just built a log style manifold with 16 gage mild steel tube. I went that route for simplicity. I built the entire system from scratch. I know the log style have their limits, but I'm not looking to run 8's. The most important aspect of the entire build was to keep everything under the stock hood

Looks great!

How do you monitor your exhaust gas temperatures and/or Air fuel ratio? Is there much trial and error tuning effort for a blow through carb, or do you just error on the rich side?

Any plans for an air or oil cooler?

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I hope I don't miss when the dyno numbers come through. :)

I have an LM1 unit that I use to monitor the AF. Last year I had the sensor to close to the outlet of the turbo so I relocated that last week. As for tunning, Kevin assures me that even with boost changes I shouldn't have to adjust the carb, only with a big change in boost will I have to make some jet changes. One of the key elements in his blow thru carbs is his boost reference power valve. It is adjustable so you can really tune AF at WOT.

I had purchased an air/air and really wanted to get it on the car, but I would of had to hack up my core support, and even doing that I wasn't sure if everything was going to work out. I might have something custom built later on.

If I'm able to use my drive line as is with my 9" swap this week, I might still be able to hit the dyno on Saturday. I also see it might be nice next weekend, and thats when the track opens :hurray:

I picked up the last of the rear end parts after work today. I also was able to get the rear in the car tonight. I just need to make the brake lines in the morning, bleed the brakes, drop in the distributor, route some fuel lines and maybe go for a drive

Re: Revamping my turbo project. "NEW TRACK TIMES"

I finally got the car back on the road lastnight. Everything seemed pretty good, so I drove it to work today which is 15 miles on the other side of town.

Drove it home, then I took it to the track after work.

The first pass right out of the box was 1.99 60 (junk track) 11.587 @ 129.94 at 14lbs of boost leaving just off idle.

In all I made 6 passes that were all pretty nice. My A/F was still pretty fat and I was pulling the timing back to 27 degrees.

My last pass of the night was the best, no 60 on the slip, left at 1800, 10.478 @ 133.27 It felt like it spun pretty bad on the last pass cause I had to drive the car pretty hard through first. The last pass was at 16lbs of boost. Best part was wiping the shoe polish off and cruising home :D
