Dwayne,
What is wrong with it? More then likely the bolts are just loose. This is not a hard fix and there is some good info in the forum on this.

Probably not really anything wrong with it per say. I know it is missing the ignition module, (not the ignition switch) and I just wanted to have it checked out and maybe find out if the module could be replaced.
I would take it apart myself and check/clean and refinish it but its something I've never tackled before and didn't want to get in over my head.

..... not sure what year you working with but if an early one, 66 or older ......I can give you a contact who can rebuild and also install modern internals so tilt has more range than original with stronger parts .those early ones did not have much range and were prone to breakage ...... I had this done to my 66 tilt and it a huge improvement

I think that this paper could be a real help. It is the first of a series of three papers that describe disassembly and repair of the A and F car function locking tilt columns. Of particular assistance will be paper #1 that describes three simple tests that you can conduct on the column while it is in the car.

http://www.corvettefaq.com/acar/TiltColumnD&R119MY05.doc

The other two remaining papers and three pages of drawings (Pics #1, #2, #3) are also available at www.corvettefaq.com/A-car.asp

Depending upon the extent of the repairs that you might determine through testing and inspection, I think that you might be very capable of fixing the tilt steering column yourself.

Thanks Jim,

I don't think the column is in too bad of shape actually. It is already out of the car as I have gutted the car completely to start a restoration. It is missing some parts including the hub and ignition module. I figured I might as well have it torn down and rebuilt while it was out since I knew it would need parts anyways.

I am tempted to try it myself, and I have downloaded all of the documents that you have on the Corvette FAQ page and will read them as soon as I can.

I’m sure the hub is readily available but, is there a source for the ignition module?
