Thanks for the information. I am not 100% sure what I am going to do. My father passed away recently and I let my step mother know I would like to restore it. She also would like to restore it, but I don't think she realizes the amount of money it takes just for parts and she would have to pay labor also. The car needs a lot of work, but it is a 396 SS convertible in restorable condition. I believe dad said it had the dome pistons (or something that indicated that it was the higher horsepower 396). I am going to run the numbers on everything when I visit this spring. Right now I am just trying to get a feel for the cost of parts compared to Camaros.
You will have to excuse my lack of Chevelle knowledge, I have been in 68 Camaro world for 2 years now. Should be done this summer though and then maybe I will start working on the next project.
Here is a link to my Camaro project. Should be back on all 4s this weekend.
