Resistive Wire

Where can I get resistive wire? I'v run a Mallory Unilite for over 14 yrs and recently burned the resistive wire from the starter on the exh. I would really rather not just mount a ballast resistor, but haven't found a source for this wire.
Thanks,
Al

Thanks, you are correct. Some one before me ran the resistive down and back(no connections), maybe just to get the length they needed. Volt meter says 5.9 @ coil, which is in the 5-7v range mentioned in the old manual. Anyway it burned on the manifold. Nevertheless, i'm curious if resistive wire can still be procured somewhere?
thanks,
al
Anyway, If I wanted to buy resistive wire, do you think there is still a source??
thanks,
Al
I've checked further with no luck. I called Standard Ignition, a big supplier to Carquest, etc.and they no longer supply this type wire. As we know it was last used by GM the year before HEI so over 35 years out of production. Plus as some have pointed out, IF you're running any modified ign except the Mallory Unilite, U don't want it. It is actually still made for industrial, so I'll keep looking for someone who might supply less than a whole roll.---Al
