Has any member used a repro 69-70 Chevelle black plastic steering wheel? Do they hold up or are they prone to cracks like the woodgrain plastic repro wheels? Whats your take on these steering wheels?

i bought the comfort grip wheel and mounting kit from ground up and i did not like it at all.the real ones are like a shoft rubber not a hard plastic like the repos.i thought of sending it back then i read a thread here about leather wheel covers.so i did a search and found a company called wheel skins.you can find them on ebay or order direct from the website.if you do a thread search here you can find my post with a picture of my steering wheel with the cover on it.once i laced it up and installed the wheel i could not be more happier with the look and the feel.some thing you might want to think about.good luck

It looks like you haven't received an answer to your question. I was planning to restore my original 70 plastic steering wheel. The more I looked at it the the more I became discouraged. I purchased an reproduction wheel but have not yet installed it. I will provide info as I progress with the install.

Looking at the repro wheel, It appears correct. Time will tell though. Have you thought of looking for a nice original take off?

I bought a restored 69/70 wheel from one of the Ebay restorers for another project, a few years back. The photos looked great. The actual wheel had numerous runs and you could see the filler areas. I swapped the wheel off a rusted low mile 6cyl malibu, to get a better wheel on my project.

I have a repro black plastic steering wheel on my 69, since my original one was still perfect and I didn't want to chance having it damaged. I have had no problems with the repro wheel.....it's been on the car for about a year and a half. I remember it took a small amount of tidying up the back side of it (horn contact issues) when it was first installed, but that was all.
