Im looking in to getting a new rear bumper for my 69 velle. What kind of quality are the repro bumpers? Do they rust quick like others i've seen or are they worth getting?
Thanks alot.

Repro bumpers are a good choice if you are missing yours completely. Original Parts Group bumpers are stamped overseas, but plated here in the USA. They are replacement quality and fit very good. For a show-quality part, re-chrome your original and have it straightend, but be prepared for the cost.

The previous owner rechromed it but it is peeling off again...I cant really afford rechroming plus the closest place is about 3 hr drive but it is very straight. Maybe offset the cost and sell it in the classifieds.

Hey Big,
The repro's I've seen aren't made of the same gauge metal as the original's, they're much thinner and lighter.
If you're looking for show quality bumper's, have your's rechromed by a reputable shop, otherwise go repro's.
Good luck, Narti.

Big,
First check your old bumper to see if it can be rechromed.Remember there are 2 kinds of chrome plating,Show chrome, and flash chrome.Back in 1969 G.M. used flash chrome on all its parts.Flash chrome is not as clear as show chrome, but if you are shooting for a correct look, flash chroming is the way to go.

Thanks for all the replies. I have decided to just have it re-chromed because a new one is $270 plus shipping, i'd rather pay a bit more and keep my original. Plus it seems that the aftermarket is just like I thought...JUNK.
Thanks.
