Has anyone replaced their A-pillar completely? I have some serious rust issues on my drivers side and it looks like the only way to fix it is to replace it. Any tips would be helpful, including where to start looking for a decent replacement.

Thanks!

Personally, Id try and fix the rust before I would whack out the entire A-pillar. It only holds the windshield, provides the seal on the weatherstrip, and supports the roof you know nothing major.

Why dont you post some pics of the rust? Most a-pillars are built in several pieces. I guessing the outer piece is probably rusted but your inner is good. Replacing just the outer would be pretty darn easy.

If the existing A Pillar is really too far gone then For one, You need to weld in some temporary bracing from the door jam to the roof so it cannot move befor you cut out the old one. Find a donar car and have them leave as much meat on the ends as possible. Cut and grind to fit then reweld the new one in.

Sounds good. Thanks for all the replies. I will get some pictures this weekend when I see my car again. (It's at my Dad's house where there is a heated garage) Hopefully that will help. It's already been patched once and it's pretty bad.

Thanks again!
