Do you think this is going to be a problem? As I was cleaning up the block for inspection I noticed a weld between the water jacket and head bolt. There is more meat between the water jacket and head bolt on this side. If yo look close you can see the size of the water port before. From what it looks like will this be a problem? I also found 1 heli coil on the other side in one of the head bolts also. What do you think??????
From the looks of the corrosion around the water passages, I would almost bet dinner that this was a marine block in an earlier life. I would be more concerned with the condition of the outside of the cylinder walls, in the water jacket area.
Marc,
When you work on them every day, the marine engines stick out like a sore thumb. The corrosion around the water passages is the big giveaway. The only thing that eats a block up like that is river or ocean water running through it
