I'm trying to remove the bezel and lens off my 69 chevelle. I have taken the nuts off the studs from within the trunk, but I can't get the bezel to budge. I tap on the studs trying to loosen them up but the whole body piece the bezel is attached to moves as well. I've looked in the assembly manual but have found no reference. Any tips?

The whole tail light extention comes out first.

Same here I removed the whole tail light extention first then removed the bezel. Much easier to do this way.

There's a gasket between the bezel and the quarter thats been there for 35 yrs. It's probably just hung up on the gasket. Tap on the studs. It should loosen up. With the bezel removed, the lens will come out.

I'm not really sure what the 'tail light extension is', could you describe it, and explain how it comes out? Thanks

It's what you're calling "the whole body piece the bezel is attached to"

Just 4 bolts in the corners(accessed from the trunk), be carefull if the seam has been painted over..

Thanks all. I got it out today. The sealer in the trunk lip was hanging it up and since I really wasn't sure what I was doing I was too gentle with it. I would assume that when I go to repaint the car, that I should paint this piece separately from the body to avoid bridging the gap between the quarter panel and this piece?
