My '66 came stock with a drivers side remote mirror. Some idiot (oops! previous owner ) cut the cables, removed mirror assy. did not have a mirror on it when I bought it. Have not found an original unit. Has anyone seen one being re-popped? I have seen '68 and later. Thanks in advance.............

I have seen the round head remote mirror as a repro but it is rare. The price that sticks out in my mind was $107. There were 2 cable & 3 cable remote toggles used. Which is yours?

I don't have a link handy, but the best place to look is with the 1st Gen F-body suppliers, like 1967 Camaro & Firebird suppliers.

I have heard of people buying whole cars just to get that mirror. They look the same from 1964-67, but the toggle cables are the difference.

The 1968 Chevelles still used the round mirror head on the standard mirror, but the remote mirror switched to a rectangular head.

I had 3 cable design, Cam. Thanks for the link Keith. I found a repo mirror from OPGI, but for '67. My Chevrolet parts counter book says '66 & '67 are same. In the pictures from the link that mirror looks really bulky. Guess I have a decision to make. Thanks guys!

My '66 is a Jan. 1966 fremont built car. Have seen repo '67 mirror. Control handle interior bezel was rectangular in my car, repo is round. Can someone out there with '65, '66, & '67 cars post pics of their control handles? That should help determine which my car came with. I just want it to look original. Thanks to anyone who can help!

They used the 65 style mirror until at least 02B in the Atlanta plant. Each plant would have continued using the old mirror until all stock on hand was used up, I suspect, so it could have varied by plant. But I believe a January Fremont car would likely have had the first style mirror as well.

Here's the original on my unrestored 02B Atlanta car:

The '66 AIM shows a drawing change in March, but as stated already, depended what was on the shelf around that time. My May build '66 came with the Z19 package (included drivers remote mirror) but PO removed, but left the cables. 5 years ago I came across and bought the correct NOS in orginal GM box for $115. I've seen NOS ones go for over $600 on Ebay.

Thanks for link Jeff. Can you post picture of control on the door panel? That should tell me what my car came with. Mine had a rectangular or oblong bezel.
It is shaped like a football with flat ends:

The cover is stainless and pops over the plastic controller underneath. it has two separate cables (one white and one black). The 67 style mirror has a similarly shaped bezel, but has a round screw on nut that holds the whole shebang together, and it has (I think) three cables that are bundled together inside a black rubber sleeve.
