That's the theory anyway...put more weight over the drive wheels. Also helps clean up the engine compartment.
If you do it, you will have to run a nice thick wire back up to the starter (and make sure it's protected from sharp edges, moving parts, exhaust heat, etc.) You can put a ground wire from the battery to the frame in the rear, but I have seen some cars that need an additional ground wire from the starter to the frame up front, too. This helps insure that you have enough amps to the starter.
