I just purchased a new 12SI alternator for my 70 Chevelle. I understand I need to unplug my regulator and join 2 of the wires. I've heard that someone makes a plug cover for the old harness that joins the wires as needed. Does anyone have a part number or source for this piece?

Thanks

I just did this last week. Year One sells the harness for 13.95, but I did it myself with advise from John M and other posts about "alternator conversion". Run these words in a search on this forum and Chevelle tech for lots of info. Also go to www.madelectric.com for a wealth of info. They suggest upgrading your charging wire to 8 gauge and running a new voltage sensing wire, 12 gauge, from #2 terminal on the new alternator to your junction block or bolt on horn relay. The latter gets you remote voltage sensing at the best location. But the adapter harnesses will work.
