I'm putting in a new/used tach, but what determines what my redline is? I have a 1973 454 2 bolt main, TH400, and 3.08 10 bolt.

Basically you determine your redline. I have a stock bottom-end 454 in my Caprice. I put the redline about 6200. It may go higher...and maybe it shouldn't go that high...Only time will tell
Tell us more about your engine and we'll help you decide...

It has a mild cam, headers, holley 770 street avenger, Edelbrock torqer II intake, and hydraulic lifters.

you don't need to turn it over 6,000...with the right gears, 4.11's or 3.73's...6,000 is plenty...my old 427 in a 68 camaro w/nitrous ran high 11's with 4.11 gears and a hydraulic cam and I never turned it over 6,000
