I recovered my own '67 back seat and installed them. Just measure, check and double check that you've found center and whatever height they should be at. Then hold your breath and poke 'em. Jimbu is right that it seems like something is missing without them.

I take a different route with trim on interior parts. Once I confirm the new part is correct, I pull out the scissors or box knife and cut the old panel or seat cover up and overlay it on the new part. I then make the holes.
