I have a 396 engine that came with a 67 convertible I purchased. It was not in the car, previous owner paid to have it rebuilt but he said his guys had trouble with it and removed it. After disassembly the crank and all the bearings were toasted, like they started it dry. Crank was already ground .060 so it was trashed, cylinder walls look great. Do I sell or rebuild? What is the value since it seems ls engines are what most are going with.

Is it the original engine for the car? If so, well worth keeping or rebuilding. If not to my way of thinking you can build more cubes for about the same dollars so I wouldn't mess with a small BBC. I'm a fan of big blocks but the ultimate decision is yours based on your wants, needs, budget, and intended use of the car......

Not original to the car. Best I can make out the numbers on the right front deck appear to read
Tii24iVH then numbers i assume were vin # 6D121330
Drivers side stamped hi perf above where the clutch bell crank would go
The other # appears to be 385596 or 885596 with a P below
714099
