I painted my rearend yesterday, Its been less than 24 hours and may loose some gloss but I feel like its still way too glossy, I mixed the paint myself and used 30% flattener with Dupont paint. What does everyone think, should I repaint it a lot more flat., "Ignore the nasty cover it will get another cover and bolts. My backing plate looks the same.

If I compare it to other semi gloss parts such and my pulleys and aftermarket CI breather its dead on, I dont mind just a little too glossy but I dont want it too stand out like a sore thumb.

Heres my back plates, I mixed the paint the same for both. The paint on the rearend is still curing, I believe a few more days It may loose a little shine, They should look like these when fully cured.

If I could only patent clear brake drums. I'm sure you would be a prime customer!!!!! They look great. Oh and so does the rear.

Jim,
Everything looks good to me. I generally paint my control arms and bolt on frame parts a little shinier than the frame rails.
I know you said ignore the cover and bolts, but if you're going with the painted rear look, the cover and bolts get painted as an assembly with the exception of the 2 brake line mounting clip bolts and the 1 that mounts the rear brake hose mounting bracket, as these would have been removed and added later with the brackets.

Ok great Ill leave it and start assembly of the rearend, It is probabbly just a little glossy but I kinda like the Bling, Bling I still want the contrast so Ill do what Chris said with the frame. Maybe it will aslo fade a bit over time. Ill repaint the cover and bolts with it assembled. Except fot the 3 bolts Chris mentioned.

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you hate to cover up all those pretty multiple colored springs and stuff. Broke my heart to slip the drum on. :D
Ya but if I ever show it I wont be afraid to remove a wheel and show the small details. I have been trying to figure out a way to make the axles look new. I thought about putting them in a lathe and taking a .005 skim cut.

Jim,
As everybody's telling you, great job. The only thing I would change is that 69 Positraction Tag. I've never seen a 70 with anything but the Limited Slip wording on a 70. Same exact tag as what you have except the change from Positraction to Limited Slip wording on the tag.
