I had that size on my 67, they were mounted on 15x8 Weld Draglites with 4 1/2" backspacing. The fender opening sat right at the tire bulge, about 1/2 way down the sidewall. There never rubbed even with someone in the back seat and a full tank of gas, that was with non-roller wheel well outer lip.

Im running those on my 66. Basically 8" rim with 4.5 backspace. Actually . my draglites have a 5.5" backspace but I have to run 1" spacers to clear the shocks.
I tried that tire on factory 8" ralleys (4" backspace) and hitting a bump they would rub. Jim

will a 275/60/15 fit under the back wheel wells without using air shocks?
Yes with the right Wheel with the right BackSpace

Here is what I run on my 67
On the Street;
REARS - Wheel = CRAGAR Chrome 391 # 3915834 15"x 8" BS 4.25” BC 5x4 ¾”
---------- TIRE = M/T Sportsman S/R Radial 28'' x 12''R x 15''LT Tread Width 10.4"/ Side Wall Width 12.1"/ Dia 28"
At the Track;
REARS - Wheel = Weld Draglite 90-Series 15”x8 BC= 5x4 ¾BS= 4.5”
------------- - Tire = M/T ET St Radials # 3753R 275-50R-15
Tread Width: 10" / SideWalls Width: 11.3"- Diameter: 26.1"
--------- - Wheel Strip = Summit Fast 5, cast-alum1-piece, 15"x 8" BS 4.5” BC 5 x 4 ¾”
----------- - Tire Strip = M&H MuscleCar dot DragTireMSS-001 Bias-Ply 275/60/15
Tread Width: 10"/ SideWallWidth: 11.7"Dia: 28.2”

NO RUBBING and no Fenderlip cutting done
about 1/2" Space/Room on the Outside/Fenderlip
and 1/2" on the Inside/Frame

Lots of room for the Shock Mount Bolt if a Round Head one is used
