If you have boxed lower control arms it is an easy bolt in. If not then its a good time to upgrade your lower control arms by boxing them yourself or adding aftermarket control arms. There are many different options out there depending on your budget.

so the control arms need to be boxed from what i got in the description of the sway bar it wont work with boxed arms

4 - On some high performance models (SS, GTO, 442), the rear lower control arms are enclosed (boxed) for added strength. The #939 kit will not work on cars that are equipped with these enclosed arms. The #324 must be used on these cars or the #690 or #692 as OE replacements. The #690 and #692 are for the 1964-72 models only.

I bought one for my 67 Malibu also. Surely someone has done this upgrade and has some pics or info ?? I'll be happy to add this how-to to our website.

It is incredibly simple to add a sway bar IF the car had one originally or the lower control arms at least have the holes for one. I have SSM lower control arms on my car, the holes are put in from the factory, after installing the sway bar I checked the factory arms and they didn't have the holes.

Aside from that, it's a matter of 4 bolts and possibly a shim kit. Installing is a breeze, squeeze the bar between the lower arms and bolt it in. I personally wouldn't put a swaybar on a nonboxed control arm, I think it would flex and twist too much.

I have unboxed RCA's and a 1" rear swaybar. I have broken the first sway bar I installed. It lasted 2 1/2 years. The second is doing fine so far. The control arms are still in perfect condition.

I think boxing is good if you plan on racing the car on road courses. If you just street drive or drag only its not particularly important.
